Relax and unwind

Welcome to Evergreen, a gorgeous 2-bedroom luxury holiday cottage in historic Richmond with breath-taking views across to Richmond Castle. With its classic stone exterior, stunning interiors akin to a 5 Star Hotel and very pretty garden, Evergreen is pretty much holiday cottage heaven. Perfect for couples and families with lots of family-friendly extras…

Evergreen sits looking out directly across the fields and the River Swale to Richmond Castle. It’s got to be the best view in town. Make your way up the stone steps and in via a lovely sage green stable door. The first thing you’ll love is how roomy it feels, it’s perfectly proportioned for a luxury 2-bedroom cottage.

Let’s start with the sumptuous sitting room. A lavish celebration of purple velvet and elegant stripes combine to create a space which is both luxurious and comfortable. There’s a cosy wood-burner ready to warm your toes on colder evenings, a lush carpet underfoot and plenty of glossy magazines to dive into. For your entertainment there’s a Smart LCD TV, Blu-ray player, lots of Blu-ray DVDs (including children’s movies) and a Blue-tooth MP3 player. There’s a box of toys for younger children and of course Fibre optic Wi-Fi is provided too.

Across the hallway and into the generous kitchen dining room. A very sweet cottage kitchen awaits complete with all mod-cons; a fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher, double oven and microwave. It’s really well stocked with good quality cookware if you enjoy a spot of cooking on holiday, and if you have young children with you children’s crockery, plastic cups and a high chair are provided. The dining table comfortably seats 4 and has a great view to the front towards the castle.

Both bedrooms in Evergreen are upstairs. The first is a stunning master bedroom which boasts a Superking-size bed dressed in the finest 400 thread-count bed linen and feather down bed toppers. Exposed beams and a double height ceiling emphasis the space in this room and with hairdryers and straighteners provided in the drawers it really does feel like you’ve stepped into a luxury hotel. There’s also a Smart LCD TV and Blu-ray player in here. And with an amazing view of the castle across the fields, you just won’t want to get out of bed!

A great night’s sleep___ is also available for the youngest guests as a travel cots is also provided.

The second bedroom is again a good size and features a beautiful King-size bed. You’ll love the elegant bespoke headboard and lovely views from this room. It also has its own Smart LCD TV, perfect for catching up with the news each morning or settling down to a lazy movie in bed. Furthermore there’s a Sony Playstation 3 with plenty of games to keep the older children (or adults!) amused. Both rooms have an IPod alarm clock, if you need to get up early on holiday that is...

The family bathroom is upstairs at the end of the landing. There’s a bath in here to indulge in a long hot soak each night and a shower overhead. Complimentary toiletries are provided for you too.

To the rear of the cottage is a very pleasant and fully enclosed garden which includes garden furniture and a BBQ for those balmy summer evenings. And to the front a bench sits looking out towards that priceless view of the castle, a lovely spot for your morning coffee and the best seat in the house for the annual fireworks display at Richmond Castle every November!

Local Area

Evergreen is set on the outskirts of the charming and historic market town of Richmond. Richmond boasts an 11th Century castle, fine Georgian architecture and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. The town centre is a very pleasant walk, just 10 minutes or so, if you fancy striking out on foot for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there. There are also some great restaurants and plenty of little shops to keep you busy for an afternoon.

The cottage is just a few hundred metres from the gorgeous River Swale. You can set off from the door and walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. There’s also a decent pub serving good pub food at the Top of the Hill. br>
We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which is a short walk from the cottage along the river. It has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, café/restaurant, gallery, Microbrewery and artisan bakery. br>
Bordering Swaledale and Wensleydale, Richmond is also known as ‘The Gateway to the Dales’ so you can expect stunning Dales scenery just a few miles away. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages. And if you have little ones to entertain, how about quite brilliant Forbidden Corner near Middleham. br>
The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just a few miles from the cottage. Set on the river Swale, the Abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breath-taking historical sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, a world heritage site. br>
This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away. The famous coast to coast walking route also passes close by.

York, the Yorkshire Coast and Harrogate are all very reachable and the perfect choice for a day trip.
