Built in 1729 as a classic Georgian country house in a charming hamlet just one mile outside of Richmond, North Yorkshire, Easby Hall was significantly extended in the late 19th Century to accommodate a ballroom and generously sized dancing hall and staircase. With impossibly romantic views of the remains of 12th Century Easby Abbey (or the Abbey of St Agatha), the River Swale and the charming Georgian market town of Richmond, Easby Hall is probably more glamorous, certainly more luxurious and indisputably as or more comfortable than many a boutique country house hotel.
With its separate bed and breakfast wing, offering guests total privacy, and glorious gardens and views, Easby Hall sets a new benchmark in luxury bed and breakfast within walking distance of Richmond, gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
John and Karen met and married in Hong Kong where John worked in retail banking and Karen ran an international publishing business. After twenty years' working in Asia, they returned to Karen’s home county of Yorkshire and bought Easby Hall in 2004. The house has been restored with extraordinary attention to style, quality and detail and with exquisite taste, in order to create a beautiful family home with a wing for the exclusive use of bed and breakfast guests.
